About Raven

Raven Magwood is an author, motivational speaker, and filmmaker who is truly a force to be reckoned with. At 23 years old, she has accomplished more than most do in their lifetime. By 11, she was a national gymnastics champion. By 13, she had published her second book. By 15, she was a state titleholder in track-and-field competing nationally. By 16, she had graduated from high school number one in her class with a 5.1 GPA.

By 19, she had graduated from Clemson University’s honors college summa cum laude, simultaneously inspiring thousands of individuals in schools, organizations, and corporations with her moving testimony and captivating personality. Switching Lanes, a feature film written by Raven and inspired by one of her books, is currently winning awards on the film festival circuit. Her latest publication, The 7 Practices of Exceptional Student Athletes, has become an official guide for student athletes to achieve success. Because of her many accomplishments post-graduation, Raven was honored as one of Clemson University’s Roaring Ten, which prestigiously recognizes the top 10 graduates of the past 10 years.

In 2014, Raven started a clothing/jewelry line with her mom called I AM A TEN, which seeks to help build the self-esteem of girls and women around the world. In conjunction with her efforts to empower women both nationally and abroad, she is working on her fourth book, The 7 Practices of Passionate Women, which will be released later this year. Along with writing her book, Raven writes a weekly column called “Wednesday Wisdom” which empowers readers with life lessons and powerful anecdotes.

In addition to her various business ventures, Raven is committed to making an impact in her community. Since 2008, her charitable organization, The Raven Magwood Foundation, has helped over 30,000 students gain access to mentoring, as well as valuable life skills in order to pursue their academic and career goals. Since 2015, The Raven Magwood Foundation has hosted the annual Student Athlete Summit in Greenville, an event that will give thousands of youth the tools to unlock their full potential in school, in sports, and in life.

Although Raven stays very busy, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. She especially appreciates the support of her mom (Chandra), dad (Frank), brother (Jarvis), and fiance (Justin). When she’s not writing, speaking, or shooting a film, Raven enjoys shopping, going to church, travelling, and solving other people’s Rubik’s cubes.
